We at Killarney Vets are continuing to monitor the ever-changing progress of COVID-19 and its impact on the Southern Downs. With a confirmed case on the Darling Downs we have to focus on the health and safety of both our staff and clients while ensuring the continued welfare of the animals.
As we are such a small team with some vulnerable staff members and family members we will be bringing into effect changes to our health policies, staffing and business hours. These will take effect as of 6pm Friday the 27th of March 2020 until further notice.
We will be running the clinic in “2 teams” with only 1 vet and 1 nurse on at any 1 time. This should enable us to see out this pandemic for the long term. Unfortunately, if we continue to operate as we currently are, if one of our team members were to get sick, we would all be quarantined and have to close the clinic.
Therefore, our opening hours will be reduced to 9am-4pm Monday to Friday and 10am-12pm Saturdays and Sundays. We are still offering after hours but we will be asking more questions and triaging your animal to formulate the best plan for their treatment. If you call afterhours and are unwell yourself, please let the vet know so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
In order to ensure your safety and our staff’s safety these are the changes we are implementing to keep everybody safe:
Change of opening hours: 9am-4pm Monday to Friday, 10am-12pm Saturdays and Sundays with afterhours service still available
If you are sick, have a fever, cough etc. with a scheduled appointment please call and advise us so that we can reschedule the appointment if it is non-urgent. If it is an urgent matter and you are sick please arrange for a healthy friend or family member to bring in the animal or phone ahead so that we can take a history over the phone and meet you at the car to take your animal in while you wait in your vehicle.
If you need to make an appointment or have a question or query, please phone where possible rather than coming into the clinic unnecessarily.
Please limit the number of people bringing an animal in to the clinic to 1 person
For on farm visits, depending on the nature of the call out, please limit the number of people present accordingly
For prescriptions, medications and pet supplies please phone ahead to arrange dispensing so that we can have them ready for you to collect and reduce the wait time for you in clinic
Please practice hand hygiene and wash your hands thoroughly before coming to the clinic and when you leave, don’t touch your face and cough or sneeze into your elbow or tissue
We thank-you for your understanding and adherence to the above changes. And we hope that we can all get through this together.
